Dupilumab Promising in Eosinophilic Esophagitis

According to new research, around three-fifths of patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) attained remission after treatment with dupilumab.

Marc Rothenberg, of Cincinnati Children′s Hospital, reported during a presentation at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) annual meeting that in a 6-month study, around 58.8% of adults and adolescents, who received treatment with dupilumab, achieved histological remission, in comparison with 6.3% of those in the placebo group. Patients treated with dupilumab also had a reduction in dysphagia symptoms, with a 10-point greater improvement on the mean Dysphagia Symptom Questionnaires (DSQ) score, compared to those who were given a placebo.

In part A of the LIBERTY EoE TREET study, patients were given dupilumab once a week. In part B of the study, subjects in the treatment arm were given 300 mg dupilumab either once a week or once every 2 weeks.
